The Paradox of the Cross – The Blindfold

April 16, 2011 | Category: Theology

Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him. They also blindfolded him and kept asking him, “Prophesy! Who is it that struck you?” And they said many other things against him, blaspheming him. — Luke 22:63-65

Jesus –  God –  knows all and sees all (Prov 15:3).  He is blindfolded by men who’s eyes are open to see to hit Him, and yet, they are completely blinded to what they are doing.  ”Your eyes saw my unformed substance…” (Ps 139:16).  He knew them before they existed.  He saw them before they could see.

How often are our eyes wide shut, not seeing our hearts rejecting the God who loves us?
