Elders // Serve by Leading
I grew up in Detroit but traveled around with my family as my dad played and managed in professional baseball until I was 16. My own professional baseball career started at 18 and brought me to Fort Worth to play for the Fort Worth Cats where I met Heather, my wife now of 12 years. We have three daughters, Harper Grace, Hollis Jane, and Hadden Faith. After eight years of professional baseball I retired and entered vocational ministry. After two years as a resident church-planting intern with Cityview Church in North Fort Worth, my wife and I started The Paradox in our living room with eight people.
I come to Fort Worth, originally from California. I met and married my bride, Crystal in 1999 in Northern California. We moved to Seattle two weeks later. I started working in ministry in 2001 as an unpaid intern for Mars Hill Church. I continued as a deacon and then pastor from 2001-2014, which brought me and my family to different locations and states. We’ve lived in Seattle, WA; Albuquerque, NM; Bellevue, WA; and Los Angeles, CA before coming to Fort Worth. During that time we began raising our five children. Sinai Grace is now 13, Aedia Jo is 11, Hudson Duke is 10, Ethne Ruth is 8, and Drake Bautista is 5.
Biblical Living Pastor
I was born in Fort Worth and grew up on the northwest side. I have been married to my wife, Rachel, for more than 30 years. She is a precious gift to my life. God gave us four children to love and care for, as well as two daughter-in-laws, a son-in-law and a grandson. I am thankful and humbled to be able to love and serve the Paradox Church family. In God’s direction and timing, he placed the Paradox Church in a proud, self-sufficient, religious culture. I see the Paradox family as a catalyst to explode the love of God to the people of Fort Worth. It is my hope and prayer that we can know the depths of God’s love and walk together in unity, as we love Jesus and our city.
